Children and adolescents need, even more than adults, to experience feelings of well-being and to feel mentally and physically in balance. In fact, while they are still growing, they find themselves having to face the high complexity of the current lifestyle. 15 to 20% of children and adolescents experience anxiety disorders. These can manifest themselves not only with anxieties and fears, but also with headaches, lack of concentration, sleep disturbances, stomach pains and irritability. Manifestations of fears and anxiety can already occur in preschoolers to a considerable extent (3-6 years).
There is scientific consensus that these children, and their families, need to be supported and treated with adequate therapies to minimize the risk of developing major problems in adolescence and adulthood.
